Reasons to Join
Who Can be a Member?
To join Your Choice Federal Credit Union, you must be eligible for membership. Members of the credit union share a “common bond” such as; employed, retired or are a member of one of the companies or organizations in our Field of Membership. Also persons, who live, work, worship or attend school in, or a business legal entity located in most of the Altoona area. Family members, i.e. spouses, (spouses of deceased members), children, siblings, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, (this also includes any step-relatives). Once an immediate family joins them that person’s family is eligible to join. Any person living in the same household can be a member. A member of an organization must have a voting right to the organization.

Our drive up hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm. Important information about procedures for opening a new account To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or photo id and other identifying documents.
Field of Membership
Credit Union History On September 18, 1957, our credit union was chartered. The first name of the credit union was Altoona Bell Federal Credit Union with membership of Bell Telephone employees. In 1965, we merged with Penelec Eastern Division Federal Credit Union. Our name changed to Bell-Penelec Federal Credit Union. We merged with two others unions 1981 F.L. Smithe Employees Federal Credit Union and in 1987 merged with the Altoona City Employees Federal Credit Union. In 2002, we made the decision to change our name to Member First Federal Credit Union. In November 2003, we became Your Choice Federal Credit Union. In 2009 we were working in an out grown facility and moved to a new impressive building located at 109 Keystone Street, Altoona, Pa, which gives us much more exposure and better accessibility to our members. To date, we have grown to a membership of over 1600 people with assets of over (8) eight million dollars. |
